Forest Department–regulated wildlife safaris in Bandipur Tiger Reserve — dry-deciduous forest on the Deccan plateau in Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka, part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Safaris run in two modes: Forest Department mini-bus/van (canter) safaris and open jeep/gypsy safaris, with Jungle Lodges & Resorts (a Govt of Karnataka undertaking) as the licensed jeep operator. Morning and evening shifts. It sits on the Mysore–Ooty highway (NH-766), which has a night-traffic ban through the reserve.
